Ilitha Telecommunications Infrastructure has implemented a dual investment strategy, comprising a self-funded infrastructure build program and a third-party digital infrastructure strategy to deliver affordable, high-quality broadband services. Recognizing the underrepresentation of youth and women in the telecommunications sector, Ilitha will work with rural ICT startups founded by these entrepreneurs to establish community networks in remote areas.
Community Internet Service Providers (CISPs) will own the village-level networks, while Ilitha will provide branding, network design and build, management and remote support, products and services, Internet protocol transit, and integration. Local entrepreneurs will handle network maintenance and sales/support, while Ilitha’s Community Internet Service Provider Program (CiSPP) will help youth, women, and cooperatives in rural areas participate in the digital value chain.
Ilitha will collaborate with government and development finance institutions to provide developmental funding for these entrepreneurs.

Our goal is to bring more people onto the internet on a sustainable basis. While our broadband strategy is centered around optic fibre, we recognize that remote rural areas and sparsely populated regions are best served by radio and satellite technologies.
